YES on Prop 102

 click on pic for link
Both Doug and I have been feeling very strongly about this . . . and I have been wanting to write about it for awhile now. My cousin sent me some information about some things that have been happening in California regarding Prop 8 (which is the same thing) - I forwarded the e-mail on to pretty much everyone.   I had several people respond back to me. Many people have said that they have had their signs stolen from their front yard repeatedly. One family had a car parked in front of their home with words on the car "BIGOTS LIVE HEAR" with an arrow pointed to their home. The gay couple that put it there were able to keep their car there for 72 hours - then they moved it. There have been picketers that stood outside the Temple with their signs - these are some of the pictures of them:

They are allowed to teach about same sex marrige in school with out permission of the parent - Here is a video of things that could happen

Follow - up article on this video - click here

Here is sample art of a book that was handed out to kids to help them understand about and accept same sex marrage:

To end a good note - here was some uplifting examples of the Saints in California and what they are doing about it - I hope Tracey S. doesn't mind I posting this on my blog - but she e-mailed me these pics right after I sent the e-mail from my cousin - I loved the captions they wrote - after seeing so much negative - it was hopeful to see this and inspired me to do more:
FIGHTING FOR THE CAUSE..PROTECT OUR FAMILIES , OUR DEAR GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

NO WE DID NOT HAVE TO WALK THE PLAINS, WE JUST HAD TO STAND IN THIS GORGEOUS WEATHER AND STAND FOR TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS..(NOT SUCH A HARD JOB AFTERALL)...

WE WILL STAND AND DEFEND, EVEN IF WE GET BAD SIGNALS OF DISAPPROVAL

Also - I was sent this link on a good news article:

Birthday Dinner

We always celebrate Doug's birthday on FHE night . . . because his real birthday is Halloween. Usually we end up celebrating it all week because the kids still know it's not for a week. We went to dinner and then picked out pumpkins and went to the corn maze. We had so much fun. We raced our way out of the maze. We took Rowdy through it with the stroller - the kids would scream and run, and sing. Doug and the kids did the thriller dance and made a fool of themselves but we all got a good laugh at it all. We came home and gave him cake and opened presents and watched "Thriller" on you tube!  LINK

Santa Letters

I am participating on a blog Tour for the book called Santa Letters - if you have not read this book, it is a must read before the holidays.  This book is about a family where the dad dies.  The family now has to cope through the next holidays with out him.  It is such a lovely book that shows how Christ heals us and can really bring the spirit of the real holiday to us, if we let it.  Each day there is a new letter from "Santa" but it is a gift from Christ.  One day for example was the gift of warmth.  The present was hot coco, a bundle of wood for a fire, and a blanket.  This symbolized the feeling of warmth that you receive from Christ.  Each day was a new gift.

Our family is doing the Santa Letters for our kids this year.  You can download the list from the web-site.  There are other gifts that you can buy to make the memory more authentic.  We really want to cut down on all the commercial gifts that our kids have come to expect and make it more personable, hopefully a Christmas that they will come to remember for a life time.

This week Doug surprised us and called and said he was taking us to the fair. We met up with the Cook family. We had a ton of fun this year. Usually we go with Dance Connection . . . but we are not performing there this year - so went just for fun.
